Italy won the Euro after 53 years prevailing 3-2 over England on penalties (1-1 regular time and extra time) with hero Gigi Donarouma blocking Sakas' penalty. The Azzurri won the second trophy in their history, the first after 53 years.
The English team opened the scoring in the 2nd minute of the game with Luke Shaw, and held the lead until the end of the half. In the second half, Italy picked up the pace and found the way to a draw in the 67th minute with Leonardo Bonucci. The game was led to extra time, without changing anything, with the two teams resolving their differences on penalties, where the Azzurri emerged victorious.
The English, despite their amazing course until the final, left their audience disappointed at Wembley, as once again in a big event they failed to lift the trophy.
