Manolo Jimenez left AEK Athens and was named manager at newly-relegated Las Palmas, ahead of the 2018-19 season. He has been tasked with promoting the club back to La Liga following their relegation at the end of the previous season.
While he was at AEK Athens, at the end of the 2017–18 campaign, the club won the national championship for the first time in 24 years. He left the club at the end of his contract, after negotiations for its renewal proved unsuccessful.
Manolo stated that he will never stop having a place in my heart for AEK. It was difficult for him to leave AEK. Only his intense desire to return to Spain after a tough time was what made him accept the Las Palmas proposal. He was happy, he worked very hard to get to the final cup twice and to win the Greek championship. Finally, he thanked AEK for his love and devotion to me.
